Privacy Policy — The Mindful Design Academy

Plainly, and without promising more than is actually true.
What’s tracked, and where
The app keeps track of which courses you’ve opened and finished, your practice streak, and where you left off, so your progress shows up when you come back. This lives on your own device. To help restore your progress if you switch devices, reinstall the app, or clear your browser, we also keep a lightweight copy of that same progress on our server. If you haven’t enrolled, it’s tied only to an anonymous guest code set in a cookie — not your name, email, or anything identifying. If you have enrolled, it’s tied to your account instead.
Your account: email, name, and sign-in
Enrolling is optional — it’s what lets your progress follow you to a new device. To enroll, you give us an email address; we send a one-time 6-digit code to confirm it’s really you (through our email provider, Resend), and ask what to call you. We store your email, the name you give us, and your course progress, tied to that account. There’s no password — signing back in works the same way, with a fresh code. You can change your name, sign out, or permanently delete your account and everything tied to it, any time, from the account screen (tap your name at the top). Deleting removes your email, name, and saved progress from our server for good — it isn’t reversible.
The in-app AI chat (the Mindful Guide)
When you send a message to the Mindful Guide, that message — plus a little context about what you’re doing in the app — is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a reply. We don’t keep a transcript of your conversation on our own server; each reply is generated fresh from what you send. Please don’t share anything private, medical, or identifying in the chat — it’s a helpful guide, not a confidential record.
If you choose to donate
Donating is entirely optional — every course is free. Tapping the donate heart takes you to Givebutter, a separate payment platform, to complete it. Givebutter handles and stores your payment details directly; we never see or store your card number, and Givebutter has its own privacy policy governing that transaction.
The weekly meditation and 1:1 sessions
These happen over Zoom, arranged by email. We use your email address only to send the joining link (through Resend) and any reminder. Sessions are not recorded — unless we tell you in advance, for that specific session, that it will be.
The only emails we send
We only email you your one-time sign-in code, or a link and reminder for a live session you’ve booked. We don’t send marketing, newsletters, or promotions — so there’s nothing to opt out of.
Cookies & on-device storage
The app uses a few small, functional cookies and on-device storage entries — to remember your guest code or signed-in session, your display name, and small UI preferences (like whether you’ve already seen the nav labels). None of it is used for advertising, and we don’t use third-party tracking or analytics cookies.
Access, change, or delete your information
You can see and change your name, or permanently delete your account and everything tied to it, from the account screen. If you’d rather we do it for you, or have any other request about your data, email us below and we’ll take care of it.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your data.
- We don’t run ads or ad-tracking.
- We don’t share your information with third parties for marketing.
- We don’t share your Mindful Guide messages with anyone besides our AI provider, solely to generate a reply.
The one exception: we may disclose information if we’re legally required to — for example, in response to a valid court order or government request.
Not for kids
The Academy is built for adults working through everyday moments — meetings, hard conversations, boundaries, presence. It isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
If this page changes
We’ll update this page as the app changes, and update the date above. We won’t make a material change to how we handle your information without updating this policy first.
